Michael Battersby (Principal)
Mike Battersby is the founder and principal of Battersby and Co business lawyers.
Prior to his legal career, Mike ran a successful Auckland landscape design and construction firm. He has worked in large national law firms in the corporate, commercial and finance areas, and has overseas experience in shipping and commercial law.
Mike holds a Masters in Commercial Law from Auckland University and became a member of IPSANZ (Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand) in 2002. He was Vice-President of the New Zealand Technology Law Society from 2002 to 2007.
Mike won the New Zealand Law Society Innovative Lawyer Award in 2012 with his Business Growth Law® Program.
Elizabeth Liu (Law Clerk)
Elizabeth is New Zealand-born of Chinese descent. She is currently completing her LLB/BA degree at the University of Auckland and as an exchange student spent the first semester of 2017 at the Maurer School of Law at Indiana University. She then interned at Keith A. Fink & Associates in Los Angeles, California assisting with employment law litigation.
Elizabeth is particularly interested in Commercial and Intellectual Property Law.
Natalie Pei-Lin Petersen (Law Clerk)
Natalie is a Kiwi-Malaysian of Chinese descent who has lived both in New Zealand and Kuala Lumpur. She has interned at Skrine Law Kuala Lumpur and has spent time studying Mandarin and Chinese culture in Hunan Province.
Natalie is currently completing her LLB/BCom degree at Auckland University and is interested in commercial dispute resolution and litigation.
Jill Zheng (Consultant)
Jill is from Fujian Province, China and has lived in New Zealand since March 2015. Jill holds a Master of Business Management from the University of Auckland and a Bachelor of Agriculture Science from Nanjing Agriculture University. Jill is an expert in B2C and B2B marketing, branding and business development in Asia.
Jill is also a serial entrepreneur and has worked for a leading NZ venture capital firm.
Sara Al Kabban (Consultant)
Sara graduated from the University of Auckland with a double major in Law and Psychology in 2014 and was admitted to the Bar in July 2015.
Sara is interested in business growth, international law and trade between New Zealand and the Middle East.
Jennifer Shi (Consultant)
Jennifer is a practising lawyer originally from Shanghai. She is fluent in English, Mandarin and also basic Japanese.
Jennifer mainly advises on Chinese business.
Erica Lee (Consultant)
Erica is our Korean language consultant. She is an experienced commercial and litigation lawyer with a particular interest in fashion design and retailing. Erica is fluent in Korean and is an accomplished public speaker and translator.
Erica has a strong involvement in the Korean community in Auckland and Melbourne.
